(230122) -- DAHUA, Jan. 22, 2023 (Xinhua) -- Meng Xuantai studies in a classroom at Nongyong primary school in Bansheng Town of Dahua Yao Autonomous County, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Dec. 26, 2012. Meng Xuanren and his younger brother Meng Xuantai were nicknamed "ladder teenagers" because they had to climb mountains and hanging ladders to get to school as children. They've all grown up and achieved their goals now. Meng Xuanren, 22, is a sophomore at the Liaoning Provincial College of Communications, and Xuantai, 19, works at an auto repair factory in south China's Guangdong Province after graduating from a vocational school. The brothers returned to Nongding Village in Bansheng Town for a family reunion during the Spring Festival. Japanese lawmaker to quit party over alleged abuse against staffer

TOKYO, Japan, June 23 Kyodo - Mayuko Toyota points at her name listed at the Diet building in Tokyo on Dec. 26, 2012, on her first trip to parliament after being elected to the House of Representatives. Body of famed Japanese climber killed in Russia returns home

SHIZUOKA, Japan - The coffin containing famed Japanese climber Haruhisa Watanabe arrives at his family's home in the town of Mori, Shizuoka Prefecture, on Jan. 3, 2013. Watanabe, 31, died on Dec. 26, 2012, in a traffic accident in Russia's Murmansk region during a cycling expedition through Central Asia. In 2004, when aged 22, he became the youngest Japanese to scale the tallest peaks of the seven continents.
